COSMOB attended the ISO Technical Committee meeting for the furniture sector, which was held from 17 to 21 September 2018 in Shangai
The Technical Commission called ISO/TC 136 “Furniture” has the task of defining and harmonizing the regulatory standards for safety, functionality and health for furnishing products in different countries.
This commission brings together the global players in the Wood-Furniture sector: each country is represented by qualified delegations made up of leading companies of the sector and by the country’s Reference Test Laboratories.
In particular, in this 15th edition was discussed the international harmonization of regulatory standards for: storage units, seats and tables for domestic and office use, as well as the standard kitchen furniture size coordination.
The most important countries for the furniture sector attended the meeting: China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, United States, Sweden, Taiwan, etc.
In this context, therefore, the technical rules for the world trade in furniture products are defined.
COSMOB is an official member of the Commission and plays an active role in the definition and elaboration of the standards. Being actors of these discussions means, first of all, protecting the interests of our companies, as well as helping to improve the circulation of safe and functional products in an increasingly globalized world market.
The technical committee will meet again from 18 to 22 February 2019 in Nuremberg (Germany) at the TÜV Rheinland headquarters.
