New projects come to life at the FabLab thanks to the collaboration of designers who use laboratory technologies to create innovative products. It is in the FabLab, that the designers Luca Orazietti, Luca Zanutel, Manuel Piersanti and Ludovico Gennaro designed the ES CUBE or “Escape CUBE“, a product designed, as the name suggests, to escape from office stress and stimulate concentration at work.
The project was born within the CONFAPI COSMOB “Designer of Production” high training course in order to create a digital manufacturing object using laser processing or 3D printing and make it interactive through the addition of an electronic component .
ES CUBE: technologies used and functionality
The cube is composed of two plywood components joined together by plexiglass springs. The application of the springs on the outer sides of the cube made its components flexible, allowing the user to press it repeatedly, guaranteeing an anti-stress effect.
The electronic device is placed externally to the cube and it is connected to its surface through contacts that activate sounds during the use of the product.
ES CUBE is an interesting example of how it is possible to combine the advantages of digital technologies with those of craftsmanship, creating unique pieces and using new digital tools.
Stackable box: technologies used and functionality
Always with a view to designing innovative ideas, the designer Luca Orazietti has joined the FabLab community by participating in another project that involved the construction of Stackable Boxes, a new product designed to solve space needs both in domestic and office environments.
For the realization of this product the material used is the multilayer wood worked with the cutting and engraving technique in order to realize the joints on the sides aimed at combining the box without the use of adhesives.
For the production of this type of box the designer, thanks to the support of the FabLab experts, was able to develop skills with the cutting parameters in the post-design phase, in order to create a type of joints that perfectly fit the surfaces.
The design of the box is under review, as the goal of the experts is to create a customizable product that best suits the needs of potential users.
The FabLab is the reference point for the development of innovation and the exchange of ideas. Thanks to the use of the new digital technologies present in the structure, designers, companies and ordinary people have the possibility of transforming their ideas into real objects, receiving the support of the staff in all phases of the realization, from the design to the production.
